Beautiful Open Porch with Fireplace and Kitchen in Waxhaw, NC

This amazing project was definitely a fun one for Deckscapes to build. Our clients knew what they wanted, and, with the help of a wonderful interior designer, had all of the help they needed to design this beautiful open porch. Because of an existing pool, space was a little limited. We were able to build a 20’ x 20’ open porch which was going to be just enough to create 3 distinct living areas in this porch. The first thing we had to do was raise up the floor of the new porch so any rain water wouldn’t wash across the floor during a storm. Existing pavers were removed, the foundation was poured and channel drains were installed around the raised perimeter to help divert water and keep the new tile floor dry. We were able to construct the new roof using just 4 corner posts and engineered beams to keep all of the views open. The sloped roof had a new standing seam, black, metal roof installed. One of the “Non Negotiables” for our clients was a large, painted brick, wood burning fireplace with an oversized opening with seating on both sides. Our skilled tradesmen were able to make it happen and it looks amazing! We installed a wood, V-Groove, tongue and groove ceiling with crossing, raised, exposed beams in the center and installed recessed LED can lighting and oversized ceiling fan. On the front, entrance side of the porch, we installed a large island with seating for 4 chairs so guests could come over from the pool and have a seat. The island had a granite top with waterfall style sides down to the new tile floor and contrasting tile on the inside face of the island. It is a focal point of this room. We installed 2 Infratech heaters at the header height to help keep the guests warm on cooler nights. Hanging chairs were installed on one side porch to relax in. On the opposite side of the porch we installed a large kitchen area equipped with enclosed cabinets, gas grill top, flat top gas griddle, storage cabinets and doors and two matching stainless steel hood vents. This area was accented with beautiful black tile from the new granite countertops up to the ceiling. The paint scheme for the room utilized different shades and finishes of Black paint along with a contrasting wood stain for the exposed beams. The gorgeous tile pattern was selected and installed to finish off the project. I was extremely satisfied with the outcome of this project and our amazing clients love it and use it everyday.

Belmont, NC Complete Backyard Makeover

For this beautiful project, our client came to us with with one goal in mind, “Transform my backyard into an amazing space for my family and friends”. What started with a small, rotting wood deck turned into a complete Trex sun deck, full covered kitchen with endless stainless appliances, and a grand, gable roof, EZE Breeze porch with fireplace and 12’ glass sliding door. The project was basically three separate outdoor living spaces.

The outer deck and staircase was designed to accommodate a large sectional couch and fire table. We installed Trex Enhance Naturals grooved decking with hidden fasteners in the Toasted Sand color with a matching single border and 1x12 fascia. The railing on the deck and stairs was a 36” tall Trex Signature black aluminum railing accompanied by black Trex wedge lights and round LED risers lights. The steps led down to a Belgard paver path with on offset border.

The outdoor covered kitchen area turned out just amazing. We continued the Trex Toasted Sand decking in this area. Instead of Trex railing, we installed a long L-Shaped stone and granite kitchen, master work station equipped with a large Green Egg, working sink with cover, large gas griddle cook top, 36” professional gas grill, oversized hood vent and numerous storage doors below. We installed a separate oversized stone and granite island to accommodate a warming drawer, refrigerator, kegerator with 2 taps, ice machine and numerous contained drawers. This space was easily accessed from their kitchen which made food prep extremely easy. For cooler weather, we installed 2 Infratech heaters at the headers which make this area very comfortable while watching football games or enjoying family dinners outside. The ceiling was 5 1/2” painted tongue and groove, V-Groove planks with matching trim and numerous LED recessed can lights. This all leads to a Larson storm door into the new porch area.

The grand porch area was a 24’ x 20’ gable roof with exposed, stained beams and the same tongue and groove ceiling as the kitchen area. We installed a stone fireplace in the center of the room with a matching hearth and stone mantle. The floor was a large 24” tile pattern. This room needed railing so we install the same Trex railing as the deck area and then added EZE Breeze Vertical 4 Track porch windows and glass in the gable openings. We added a painted shiplap wall to close off the adjacent kitchen area. This room also had Infratech heaters installed as well as LED can lights and a very large ceiling fan. To make this room flow better with the house, we removed a window in the living room and added a large 12’ wide x 8’ tall triple sliding door. When the doors are opened, the room seamlessly flows with the interior room. This room created endless possibilities for family and friends to relax and enjoy their company. One of my favorite thing to hear is when clients tell us that they “practically live out here in the porch”.

Lakefront TimberTech Deck

Deckscapes built this beautiful, multi-level lakefront deck with stairs leading down to their pool deck for our clients on Lake Wylie, SC. The main decking color installed was Driftwood from TimberTech’s Reserve Collection and the offset border color was Espresso from TimberTech’s Legacy Collection. Using a different color for the deck border can really make the main decking color stand out. The decking is fastened to the framing using hidden fasteners and color matched screws where needed. The railing is from TimberTech and is their Impression Rail Express in the Bronze color which matches the Espresso border very nicely. Instead of standard vertical ballusters, the client asked us to install a horizontal, stainless steel cable railing. They wanted a very clean, very minimal looking rail to not block the pool or lake view. We added some TimberTech LED riser lighting to the stairs for more ambiance and safety when walking on the deck at night.

Open Porch over Existing Patio

Our clients in York, SC had a small, existing covered porch and asked for a new open, gable roof porch design over their existing stamped concrete patio. We we able to preserve their stamped concrete by digging new footings under the outer edges of the patio and then installing a beam pocket in their house wall to accept the new porch header. We then installed a new 15’ x 15’ gable roof, open porch with details to match their exiting house so it looked like it was part of the original build. We added 4 LED recessed can lights in the new ceiling along with a new ceiling fan. Then we installed new 5 1/2” wide, tongue and groove wood, V-Groove ceiling panels and painted them to look like the Carolina sky. The existing covered porch had a basic vinyl ceiling that we removed and added an additional 4 LED recessed can lights, ceiling fan and V-Groove ceiling with matching paint. The new porch columns installed were 10” x10” PVC wrapped columns to match the header above and all painted to match the house trim color. Our clients love their new outdoor living space and are considering enclosing it with EZE Breeze porch windows in the near future.

Lakeside Trex Deck and Pavers on Lake Wylie, SC

This beautiful lake front home on Lake Wylie, SC was in serious need of an overhaul when we first got there. Our clients told us of their wishes and concerns for this project and we went to work. We installed a multi level Trex Transcends deck in the Island Mist color with a matching Trex border and hidden fasteners. The upper deck had a Trex Rain Escape system installed over it prior to the decking being laid down. All of the stairs and risers match the decking color. The railing used for the decks and stair areas is the Trex Signature black aluminum railing. We installed a Trex lighting package which included LED riser lights and black post Wedge lights. We installed a horizontal wood skirting under the deck areas and stained it to match the decking or PVC fascia. We created a covered outdoor living space under the upper deck and sunroom so our clients could come off of the lake or hot tub and relax without going up into the house. This area included a new Belgard Dimension 12 paver floor, 5 1/2” tongue and groove painted wood ceiling with recessed LED can lights, painted shiplap walls and a new, separate bathroom area equipped with a sink and a toilet. For the finishing touch, we installed a new Belgard paver pathway with stone steps , LED path lights and landscaping leading from the new deck up to the driveway. The project exceeded expectations and our amazing clients love it.

Screened Porch with Wood Burning Fireplace and Paver Patio

This a beautiful screened porch that we built in Fort Mill, SC in the Springfield neighborhood.  We started by extending the concrete floor out and pouring a large footing for the large wood burning fireplace.  From there we built the screened porch and then the fireplace followed.  The porch uses an aluminum screen track system with a darker screen for added privacy.  To finish off the ceiling we used a beaded pine board with a matching pine trim and sealed it with a Sherwin Williams semi transparent wood stain.  The fireplace was veneered with natural stone, hearth and mantle along with a large wood storage outside of the fireplace.  Afterwards we built large paver patio with rounded edges and a step off into the yard.  This project turned out to be very fun to build and very functional for the entire family.  We always want you to Enjoy Being Outside.
